Emmanuel Mpeni serves as the pastor of Trinity Bible Church, a newly planted church in Lilongwe, Malawi. He was trained in theological and pastoral studies at Christ Seminary in South Africa from 2012 to 2015. Upon graduating, he returned home with a deep conviction to serve Christ and His church faithfully in a context marked by great spiritual need.
From 2016 until September 2024, Emmanuel served as an elder at Reformation Bible Church (RBC) in Lilongwe, Malawi. When he joined, the church itself was still young, only nine months old, under the leadership of Newton Chilingulo. Over nearly ten years, he had the privilege of laboring alongside him and the other elders as the Lord established RBC as a Christ-centered, Word-driven church.
During his seminary years and throughout his ministry at RBC, a burden steadily grew in his heart: a longing to see churches in Malawi that are shaped by sound doctrine, anchored in Scripture, and unashamedly centered on the glory of Christ. This burden was sharpened by the reality that much of the visible church in Malawi has been deeply affected by the prosperity gospel and other false teachings that obscure the true gospel and diminish Christ.
In God’s providence, this burden became a shared vision with the elders of RBC, to plant another church committed to proclaiming Christ faithfully. With the blessing and support of our sending church, Trinity Bible Church was planted in September 2024, within a 20-kilometer radius of RBC. Pastor Emmanuel was sent with his family and a core group of sixteen young people.
Since then, they have been encouraged to see spiritual growth, joyful service, and a growing hunger for God’s Word among the young people. The Lord has also been pleased to add to their number. We continue to pray and labor with confidence that Christ is building His church, so that the Lamb may receive the reward for which He died.
Thank you for standing with them in prayer and partnership, and for supporting both his family and Trinity Bible Church as they seek to make much of Christ in their community, city, and country and beyond.
